Kickoff 2008: Glacier Peak vs. Arlington

Posted at 6:43 pm by Mike Cane, Herald Writer

In about 15 minutes the 2008 prep football season will officially be underway.

I'm sitting in the press box at Larson Stadium in Arlington, waiting for Glacier Peak and Arlington to get started. Should be fun.

A few pre-game thoughts:

*It's shocking to see how many more players Glacier Peak, a first-year school, has than Arlington. Glacier Peak has 60 players on its varsity roster, compared to just 29 for Arlington.

*Where are all the Glacier Peak fans? For having so many players, the Grizzlies don't have much of a crowd. The visitors' bleachers appear to be about two-thirds empty. Did some of them get caught in traffic?

*Which new head coach will start his season with a victory? Rory Rosenbach (Glacier Peak) and Greg Dailer (Arlington) are both about to lead their respective teams in a game for the first time.
