I can think of several local football teams that are off to impressive starts this fall (Marysville-Pilchuck, Cascade, Lake Stevens, Jackson and Arlington in Class 4A … Meadowdale in 3A … Archbishop Murphy in 2A).
But only one of them, 2-0 Archbishop Murphy, is ranked in this week’s MaxPreps top 25 state football rankings. Murphy is No. 7 in the poll, which is compiled without regard to classification.
In its first two games Murphy defeated two highly touted foes, Lynden and Eastside Catholic. Tomorrow the Wildcats play their Cascade Conference opener, playing host to Granite Falls (1-1) at Terry Ennis Stadium.
Here are the MaxPreps rankings, which are updated every Tuesday. For more detailed poll information click here.
