No longer waiting for Interurban Trail

A ribbon-cutting event is planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday to celebrate the completion of the Interurban Trail.

It’s planned for 72nd Avenue W. and 226th Place SW, near where the trail crosses 226th Place SW in Mountlake Terrace.

The Interurban Trail Connection project between 226th Place SW and 228th Street SW that began in mid-summer completes the remaining portion of the trail in Mountlake Terrace.

The Interurban Trail follows the PUD right-of-way from 212th Street SW to 228th Street SW and with this last portion finished, the trail will connect to the existing trail in Lynnwood and the future trail in Edmonds. The city envisions a future trail to provide a link for pedestrians and bicyclists from the Interurban Trail to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and the Town Center.

Canadian holiday may clog border crossings

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reminds travelers who are planning trips across the border this weekend into the United States to make sure they have their proper documents.

Anticipate heavy traffic during the celebration Monday of Canada’s Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is an annual one-day holiday at the close of the harvest season and is celebrated on the second Monday in October throughout Canada. Border traffic volumes are expected to be greatly increased during their holiday.

Take a walk and fight breast cancer

Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish offers a breast cancer walk Saturday.

Future Business Leaders of America hosts the benefit with check-in at 9 a.m. at Glacier Peak High School, 7401 144th Place SE, Snohomish.

The registration fee is $10, and FBLA members would like another $10 in sponsor fees from walkers.

All ages are welcome. All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
