I just spoke with Northwest Flower &Garden Show owner Duane Kelly, who told me that he is “well along in discussions with two different parties” who are interested in buying the show.
This news comes on the heels of last week’s relevation in the San Jose Mercury News that Kelly has signed a letter of intent to sell his San Francisco Flower &Garden show to San Francisco Garden Show LLC, a group that formed to continue the event.
“I’m fairly optimistic that the Northwest show will be sold also,” Kelly said. “There’s always a chance things can fall through. I’m fairly optimistic that one of these to parties will step up and make the commitment.”
Kelly said the parties are not indepdently wealthy individuals, but two separate groups of people and organizations that have come together to keep the show alive. Only one of the parties will buy the show.
Kelly said in February that both flower shows would close if a buyer did not step forward to take them over.
He expects to have firm news about the local show in less than a week.
Stay tuned.
