I’m playing editor again, so here’s just a quick look at some of the more interesting aerospace news today:

Boeing’s ‘blogger’

A Boeing communications officer, Doug Cantwell, reportedly posed as a blogger at a briefing given by defense rival Northrop Grumman. Cantwell registered as blogger for ‘Defensedialogue.com’ – a defense news site that Boeing intended to launch later this year. After several ugly corporate scandals in years past, Boeing apparently has launched an investigation into why Cantwell didn’t identify himself as a Boeing employee. — The DEW Line.

A two-year delay in the 787?

Peter Cohan, who wrote a book on Boeing’s Jim McNerney, posted this piece today. According to Cohan’s unnamed source, Boeing may need another two years to get its delayed Dreamliner on track. The source claims that Boeing’s dealing with more extensive systems problems than have been reported. Boeing told Cohan the systems are working.

More support for splitting the Air Force tanker contract

George Talbot with Mobile’s Press-Register has this report on the growing support for splitting the U.S. Air Force aerial refueling tanker contract between Boeing and duo Northrop Grumman and EADS. Talbot interviewed former Navy secretary John Lehman who calls a dual-buy “common sense.”
