Archbishop Murphy alum makes UW men’s basketball team

SEATTLE — The University of Washington men’s basketball team announced Monday that Brendan Sherrer, a 6-foot-9 sophomore from Monroe, has been added to the roster as a walk-on.

Sherrer, who played at Archbishop Murphy, was one of several players to attend walk-on tryouts last month. He was the only walk-on added to the 14th-ranked Huskies’ roster as of Monday afternoon.

Sherrer will practice with the team all season and could be eligible to play in games.

“He’s got size and that is something that will help us when practicing,” coach Lorenzo Romar said in a statement. “He’s strong enough to push the other guys and he’s only a sophomore, so he has a chance to grow with the guys. He also has a great attitude and work ethic.”
