Thompson to run for coroner post
LANGLEY — Dr. Paul Thompson of Langley has announced his campaign for Island County coroner.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Thompson said he has experience in pathology and autopsy. He has practiced clinical medicine in the United States and Saudi Arabia.
He would be attempting to gain the seat held by Coroner Robert Bishop, who was first elected in 1994 and currently is serving his fourth term in the office.
Thompson said he is running as an independent. Partisan politics has no place in serving in the coroner’s office, he said.
Thompson and his wife are nine-year residents of south Whidbey Island. Their son Erick recently returned from his third tour of duty with the Army in Afghanistan.
More information about Thompson’s campaign is available by calling 360-507-2505.
