Airbus has expanded its engineering presence in Wichita, Kan., opening a second engineering center there today.
“Our expansion in Wichita is win-win for everyone involved – the local community, our customers and our employees,” said Barry Eccleston, president of Airbus Americas, in a statement. “Business is strong for Airbus here in the US and throughout the world. That strength has given us the ability, and truly the need, to hire more top-notch engineers in Wichita.”
Airbus opened its first engineering facility there eight years ago with 27 people. The company now employs 250 engineers in Wichita and sees that number growing to 350 by 2012.
Airbus said it spent $1 million rennovating a historic building near its original engineering facility and invested another $1.5 million in equipment there.
