As a 35-year resident of Lynnwood, I have to conclude that the current administration of Mayor Don Gough and most of the city council need to be replaced. The frivolous, wanton and uncontrolled spending at the expense of the few of us who really pay taxes is unconscionable.
Contrary to what Don Gough assured me when he ran four years ago, he has shown no fiscal restraint on spending or tax increases. Most of the council consists of a “rubber stamp” for him, as most on the council fear him.
As the prior mayor needed to be replaced four years ago, so do the current mayor and all of the members of the city council who are running for re-election. Their total disregard for the residents of Lynnwood has gone on far too long.
That in effect would save Lynnwood’s image and, at the same time, save the overburdened taxpayers $80,000 that Mayor Gough wants to spend on an image change. This would be a first step toward fiscal responsibility, which is something that has been lacking in Lynnwood city government since the current mayor took office.
