MONROE — A Monroe man has been videotaping his sexual encounters with women for about a decade but now he’s facing felony charges for taping women who said they never agreed to being in his home movies.
Prosecutors on Thursday charged Robert Allen Anderson, 48, with three counts of voyeurism and one count of illegal gun possession. The charges stem from an investigation into videos involving at least three different women.
The women didn’t know they were being taped and had a reasonable expectation of privacy, Snohomish County Deputy Prosecutor Lisa Paul wrote.
Anderson allegedly told investigators that he had videotaped himself having sex with a number of different women. He said the women gave him permission because they should have seen the cameras and they didn’t object, Paul wrote in court papers.
The case was brought to the authorities after Anderson’s current girlfriend found some of his tapes. She sought out Anderson’s ex-girlfriend, whose name was on some of the tapes. That woman told police she had dated Anderson off and on from 2006 until September, court papers said. Anderson’s current girlfriend gave the woman four tapes.
The tapes contained the couple’s sexual encounters. The woman told police she never agreed to be taped.
She told investigators that she once questioned Anderson about a camera pointed at the bed. Anderson denied taping the couple, telling her that there weren’t many electrical outlets in the house and he needed to charge his video camera’s battery in the bedroom, court papers said.
Investigators discovered a large collection of DVDs and VHS tapes at Anderson’s home and storage unit. Police are cataloging the DVDs and tapes and trying to contact the women depicted in the videos.
Anderson was released from jail after posting $40,000 bail.
