Bail set in robbery, assault of Marysville man

MARYSVILLE — A judge Thursday set bail at $500,000 for an Edmonds man accused of taking part in a robbery last week that left a Marysville man with gunshot wounds to his head and neck.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday for investigation of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and dealing heroin.

A second suspect remained at large Thursday.

Marysville patrol officers on Dec. 30 found the Marysville man kneeling and bleeding outside the front door of his apartment in the 1900 block of 1st Street Dec. 30.

Police believe the man, 22, was shot at close range. There were black marks visible on his face and his left ear was partially detached, according to police reports.

A second injury to the back of his neck also appeared to be a gunshot wound, police said.

Two bullet holes were found in a bedroom wall.

The shooting victim later told investigators that the Edmonds man was selling heroin for him. He said the suspect arrived at the apartment with another man who allegedly pulled out a black revolver and pointed it at him.

The Marysville man told police he pushed the gun to the side and it went off. He said the next thing he remembers was waking up bleeding from the head and neck. He reported about $1,000 in cash missing from his pocket. His heroin and an iPod Touch also were stolen.

Police tracked down the Edmonds suspect’s cell phone number through the victim’s phone. During an Internet search, they found an iPod Touch for sale on Craigslist with the suspect’s cell phone number as a contact. An undercover Snohomish County detective contacted the suspect and arranged to buy another electronic device. The suspect then was arrested.

The Edmonds man also was arrested on suspicion of selling heroin in September to a confidential source working for the Snohomish County Regional Drug Task Force.
