A much-hyped snowfall took its time getting to Everett.
Up to 3 inches of snow were expected to fall between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning throughout Snohomish County and the Puget Sound.
Snow finally got to Seattle about 7 p.m. and made its way north shortly thereafter.
The first reports of trouble on Snohomish County roads started coming in around 9 p.m.
The snow shouldn’t stick around for long, said Johnny Burg, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle. Only rain should be falling during the morning commute.
Drivers in the morning could see a mix of snow, ice and water on the roads before it melts away, Burg said.
“The commute might be a little sloppy,” he said.
As the snow edged its way north, social media buffs around the sound went haywire looking for flakes.
Some yearned for a big storm, while others were content with a light dusting.
Around 8 p.m., one man already regretted an earlier denial of the coming of “snowmageddon.”
“I think 3 flakes fell in Everett,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Looks like fear (of snow) made my regular commute very easy. Yay fear!” another chimed in minutes later.
The fun should be over by midday today. Forecasts show temperatures in the 40s for today in Everett with a high near 50 predicted for Thursday.
As of press time, no school closures were expected in Snohomish or Island counties.
A winter storm warning also was issued for other areas, including west Whatcom County and Hood Canal. Those areas could get hit with up to a half foot of snow. Commuters there should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions.
