EVERETT — Police continue to hunt for the suspect in a fatal shooting last week inside a W. Casino Road apartment.
Anthony Devera, 20, is wanted on a $1 million arrest warrant. He was last seen walking away from an apartment building where police found the body of Pavel Datskiy, 24.
Datskiy had been shot once in the chest and died at the scene. Prosecutors on Friday charged Devera with second-degree murder for the Jan. 19 slaying.
Witnesses told investigators that Devera and Datskiy were attending the same party with several other people. All the party-goers eventually left except for the tenant and Devera and Datskiy, who stayed overnight, according to court documents.
The apartment tenant eventually went outside to work on his vehicle in the parking lot.
About 30 minutes later Devera left the apartment. He told the tenant that he and Datskiy “had exchanged words,” and said, “you didn’t see me at your place,” Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Adam Cornell wrote in charging documents. There is surveillance footage of him walking away from the apartment.
The renter was troubled by Devera’s statements and returned to his apartment. He found Datskiy sitting in a chair. It was obvious that he was dead. The man ran to a nearby apartment and called 911.
Witnesses told investigators that Devera had been showing off his gun at the party, Cornell wrote. Investigators didn’t find a gun during their search of the crime scene.
Police say Devera should be considered armed and dangerous. They’re asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911 or the Everett police tip line at 425-257-8450.
