EVERETT — The plan was for three women to lure a man out of a bar so he could be robbed of his money and cell phone by another man.
The victim then would be stripped of his clothes and shoes and driven to the mountains where he would be dropped off naked to fend for himself.
The plot was put in motion Feb. 4 but didn’t pan out, according to court records.
The victim escaped, despite being threatened with a gun and a knife.
One of the suspects, Nathan Lafromboise, 31, was arrested Monday for investigation of first-degree robbery. He was walking along a street in downtown Everett when spotted. Bail was set at $150,000 Tuesday in District Court.
The women, ages 22, 27 and 43, have not been arrested for investigation in this case although charges are expected, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. One is being held in another county on unrelated charges.
In court papers, police allege the four suspects hatched the robbery scheme with each pitching in their ideas of how to find the right man to rob.
The mark was found in a south Everett bar when the victim showed an interest in one of the women, according to a police affidavit. That woman invited him to go party along with her two friends.
The trio lured him into a 1999 Ford Escort, police said. The driver eventually pulled the car over in the 10800 block of 23rd Avenue SE. That’s where Lafromboise climbed in, police said.
The Everett man allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim.
The 27-year-old woman allegedly pulled out a knife and put it up to the victim’s neck. Lafromboise allegedly told the woman to cut off the victim’s boots. When she started to, the victim jumped out of the car and escaped.
“He is fortunate to have gotten away when he did,” Goetz said. “To have planned that type of crime just shows the callousness of some people.”
The victim identified the suspects after being shown police photos, the affidavit said.
