CLEARVIEW — A Washington State Patrol motorcycle trooper from Snohomish was in intensive care Tuesday night after he was seriously injured in a wreck on Highway 9.
The trooper, Lance Ramsay, 41, was driving southbound on the highway when his motorcycle struck the back of a Kia minivan.
The minivan was waiting to make a left turn onto 172nd Street SE, Trooper Keith Leary said.
A man, 20, of Kirkland, and two children were in the minivan; they were not injured.
The trooper was taken to a local hospital before being taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Leary said. He had a cut to his head and other injuries.
The wreck happened about 4:18 p.m. Highway 9 was reopened about three hours later.
Ramsay has been with the department about 20 years, Leary said.
The cause of the wreck remained under investigation Tuesday night.
