State campaign-finance investigators have recommended dismissing recent complaints against state Rep. Mike Hope, R-Lake Stevens, in his bid to become Snohomish County executive.
The recommendations were posted Friday on the state Public Disclosure Commission website.
Hope is running against Democratic incumbent Aaron Reardon in this fall’s election.
In April and June, Olympia attorney William Ferrell from the Evergreen Law Group filed PDC complaints against Hope. Ferrell accused Hope of improperly supporting his campaign for county executive through 100 Ideas, an initiative Hope started to generate discussion about government reform.
Another complaint alleges Hope failed to properly disclose travel expenses related to the successful campaign to reform state bail laws after the fatal shootings of four Lakewood police officers in 2009.
Investigators recommended that PDC commissioners officially dismiss the complaints at a meeting scheduled for Thursday.
They also advised the state Attorney General’s Office to pursue no legal action.
