Granite Falls man, who was linked to missing woman, likely died from drowning

GRANITE FALLS — A man whose body was pulled from the South Fork Stillaguamish River in July likely drowned, officials said Thursday.

The death of Colt Lee White, 23, of Granite Falls, is under investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators have been told that White might have been the last person to see Angela Gilbert before she disappeared in June.

Gilbert, 41, of Granite Falls, was last reported seen June 2. Another person told police that White and Gilbert went for a walk on private timberland near Granite Falls.

Gilbert has not been seen or heard from since. White was reported missing a few days later.

He died from probable fresh-water drowning, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of his death — accident, homicide or suicide — has not been determined.

The sheriff’s office on Thursday had no new details to release on either White or Gilbert, spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

White’s death and Gilbert’s disappearance are both being investigated by the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit.
