EVERETT — Detectives from the Everett Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit on Wednesday evening were searching a southeast Everett mobile home where a woman’s body was found earlier in the day.
“At this point, we are calling it a very suspicious death,” Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The woman is believed to have been in her 70s or 80s, officials said.
Police waited several hours for a search warrant Wednesday afternoon. They began processing the scene around 4:15 p.m.
The woman was found in her home at the Mobile Country Club, located in the 1400 block of 84th Street SE. The sprawling mobile home community provides housing for people 55 and older.
“We got a phone call from the daughter of the victim,” Goetz said.
The daughter had gone to the woman’s home to check on her.
Police hung yellow crime scene tape across the street of a neatly-kept row of homes. It is a quiet neighborhood where drivers obey the 10 mph signs.
At the home where the woman was found, a faded American flag flapped in a gentle breeze. Pots with colorful flowers lined the front of the home.
