MARYSVILLE — Takoda is home.
The 8-year-old Siberian Husky was stolen from her Marysville back yard on Sept. 24.
The dog was brought back to the Marysville police station on Tuesday morning, said her owner, Colleen Smith.
The family is overjoyed, Smith said. They took Takoda to the veterinarian Tuesday afternoon to get her checked out.
They had concerns over apparent injuries to the dog’s nose, Smith said. They also wanted to make sure her heart wasn’t damaged from her shock collar, which likely went off when she was yanked from her yard.
Police continue to investigate the case, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. On Tuesday afternoon, police were waiting to hear back from a prosecutor who had been talking with the attorney for the person believed to be responsible for taking Takoda.
That conversation could change the direction of the investigation, Lamoureux said.
Takoda was scared and shaking at the police station, but happy to see her family, Smith said.
The family is grateful for everyone who brought Takoda home, she said.
“We just want to thank everybody that had any participation in helping us find her,” she said. “I just want to thank everybody for all of their support, their love, just trying to keep an eye out for her and everything that they’ve done.”
