Everett woman arrested after husband attacked with saw
EVERETT -- An Everett woman was arrested for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault after allegedly taking a sawzall power tool to her sleeping husband's neck.
Police could hear a man accusing his wife of attacking him when they arrived at the home in the 1600 block of Hoyt Avenue late Friday night.
"It was you, it was you," he shouted. "You tried to cut my head off. You're going to jail,'" according to a police affidavit.
A judge kept bail at $250,000 Monday afternoon in Everett District Court.
The woman, 43, told police that she had the reciprocating saw because there was an intruder who escaped out her daughter's window.
Police didn't believe her account.
"There was no evidence there was an intruder," Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
A police officer checked the daughter's window and found that it had a child lock preventing it from opening more than a few inches. Both the front and back doors were locked from the inside.
The husband, 36, told police he woke up to a power tool on his neck. It was on, he said.
Police observed cuts to the man's neck and shoulder. He was treated and released from Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The man told police that it was dark in the room but when he turned on the light he saw his wife holding the saw.
The victim also said he was cut with a hatchet.
Police found smeared blood on the woman's clothes and forearm, according to court records. She said she had been wounded on the arm, but police found no fresh marks.
Blood was found on the carpet and walls inside the house. A sawzall with blood on it was recovered from the bedroom floor.
A hatchet was discovered on an upper shelf in the kitchen, police said in court documents. It was wet and appeared to have been washed, police said.
Police records indicated that alcohol and drugs didn't appear to be a factor in the incident.
