Wanna jam? Open mic at Anchor Pub attracts strong local talent

"Wanna jam?" and "do you guys need a bass player?" are common questions you will hear at the Anchor Pub in Everett on any Thursday night. Just about anything goes at open mic night. Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Metal, Electronic, and anything else you can think of. I have even heard some pretty good spoken word in there on occasion.

Like any open mic you are bound to hear something you aren't wild about but the talent pool at the Anchor is consistently deep and it's not uncommon to find members of local groups like The Fall of Troy, 20 Riverside or Black Magic Noize collaborating with other artists just for the fun of it. Other times bands will come in together and use the open mic to practice a new song.

If you are looking for people to start a band or jam with, ask for Aron G. or Jestin Smith, who run the open mic and they will get you on the list. Or if you are just a fan of music, like I am, and feel like starting your weekend a little early with some good local tunes, this is worth checking out.
