How does a person that earns over $100,000 underdress for a meeting with people that are unemployed? Patty Murray knows how. (Thursday article, “Sen. Murray meets with families to discuss aid for unemployed.”) She wears a stretched out T-shirt under an old hoodie with baggy pants. Does she think that makes her “one with them”? No. They have more pride.
There is a difference between business casual, casual, and just plain indifference. This meeting was planned. They didn’t just drop in while she was gardening.
It would be wise for Patty to get help from a personal shopper. She is no longer a “mom in tennis shoes.” She is a business woman and a career politician and should look the part.
