EVERETT — The tugboat Invader, which had been partly submerged in Port Gardner in Everett since March 18, was refloated on Monday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The day-long effort to right the tug was undertaken by Global Diving &Salvage on behalf of Vigor Marine, the boat’s owner. The operation was supervised by the U.S. Coast Guard and the state Department of Ecology.
The boat contains an estimated 60,000 gallons of diesel fuel. A seal was put on the boat when it capsized and it was surrounded by multiple layers of containment boom. Minor residual sheens have been spotted and recovered by salvage workers, according to the Coast Guard.
The fuel is scheduled to be removed from the boat this week. A sunken drydock believed to have caused the boat to capsize remains underwater.
