Boeing sets rollout date for first South Carolina-built 787
The Boeing Co. will roll out the first 787 Dreamliner that was built in South Carolina later this month, the company said Wednesday.
The event will take place April 27 at Boeing's North Charleston site.
Boeing delivered its first Dreamliner, which was assembled in Everett, last September to Japan's All Nippon Airways. The company has more than 860 orders for its popular fuel-efficient 787.
In 2009, Boeing opted to establish a second Dreamliner assembly line in North Charleston, where the company already has sub-assembly work for the jet.
The company plans to increase production -- both in Everett and in North Charleston -- on its 787 to a pace of 10 jets monthly by the end of next year.
