Outdoors talks planned at Gold Basin campground

A series of talks are scheduled to learn about ways to enjoy summer weekends at the Gold Basin Campground Amphitheater.

The campground is less than three miles east of the Verlot Public Service Center on the Mountain Loop Highway. Each presentation is free and open to the public.

•Debbie Lueder with the Washington Prospectors Mining Association discusses "How to Pan Gold and Prospecting Equipment," 7 p.m. today and 7 p.m. July 21.

Lorna Smith from the Grizzly Bear Outreach Project on "Grizzly Bear Outreach," 7 p.m. June 2.

Edith Farrell of the Mountain Loop Tourism Bureau talks about "Mountain Loop Highway Trails," 8 p.m. June 16 and 8 p.m. Aug. 18.

Ranger Koreena Haynes has "Lunch with Smokey Bear," noon July 7.

Kestral Skyhawk of Sarvey Wildlife Rescue presents "Sarvey Wildlife Birds of Prey," 7 p.m. July 7.

Fred Crueger with the Granite Falls Historical Society talks about "History and High Technology," 8 p.m. July 14 and 8 p.m. Aug. 4.

Wilderness Ranger Matt Riggen talks about "Along the Trail: Hikes Around Darrington Ranger District," 8 p.m. July 21.

Eras Gattshall, Everett Chapter Gold Prospectors Association, delivers a presentation about "Gold Panning 101," 7 p.m. July 28 and 7 p.m. Aug. 11.
