Sorticulture, Strawberry fest and other weekend fun

Celebrate gardening: Sorticulture, Everett’s celebration of arts and gardening, runs through Sunday. You’ll find lots of plants, funky garden art, food, classes, music and more. Parking is limited near the park, so you you may want to take the bus. Check out all the details here.

See classic cars: More than 300 vintage automobiles will roll into Arlington for the Show and Shine on Saturday. They’ll line Olympic Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Read more about it in our story here.

Take the kids: Marysville’s annual Strawberry Festival begins on Saturday with lots of events, many geared toward families. The event includes a run and walk, kids party in the park, a fashion show, a talent show and a lot more. Also, for the adults, there will be a beer garden for the first time this year. Play ball: No, not baseball. Petanque. The Edmonds Pétanque Club’s second annual tournament is Sunday at the Civic Playfield in Edmonds. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the competition starts at 10 a.m. Find more details in our story or read more about the club here.

Go fishing: Saturday is derby day at Cama Beach state park. The Center For Wooden Boats will host a Youth Fishing Derby where kids can fish, win prizes and earn big bragging rights. You don’t need a license but you do need your own equipment. Find the details here.

Stroll and sip: Sunsets in Snohomish Wine Walks return on Saturday. The event gives people a chance to taste local wines, visit merchants and enjoy summer evenings on the river. Downtown merchants host the wine tastings in their stores. Find more info in our story here.

Go outside: Get a head start on your summer fun with free admission to Mount Rainier National Park on Saturday. In celebration of National Get Outdoors Day, all 397 national parks, including Mount Rainier, will waive entrance fees.

Listen: Everett Chorale’s summer concert celebrates earth’s beauty and the bounties of summer than with song on Sunday. There will be folk songs, pop songs, spirituals and madrigals and songs that pay tribute to nature. Find out more here.

Taste and race: The 16th annual Tastin’ and Racin’ Festival runs Saturday and Sunday at Lake Sammamish State Park, 2000 NW Sammamish Road, Issaquah. For racing, there’s a hydroplane exhibition and racing, boat and car show; for tasting, there’s a beer garden and food. Details at www.tastinracin.com.

Drop in, downtown: Visit “Spring into Summer,” a day of art, music and refreshments to benefit the Friends of the Everett Public Library. The event is hosted by the Library Place apartments. Learn more on their Facebook page.

Buy rhodies: Meerkerk Rhododendron Nursery has a sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sundy at 3531 Meerkerk Lane, Greenbank.
