After an extra day off, the Seahawks are getting their practice week started in perpetration for Monday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. And the good news for Seattle is that it should head into the game pretty healthy. Left tackle Russell Okung is expected to be back after missing Seattle’s last game with a bruised knee, and while Sidney Rice (knee) and Zach Miller (foot) may be limited in practice, bot should be able to play again Monday. Carroll said it is too early to know the availability of cornerback Byron Maxwell (hamstring).
“We have a pretty good health situation,” Carroll said. “We think we have a chance to have most our guys ready, which is good.”
Even if the Seahawks are healthy, however, they’re in for quite a test when they face the Packers, who are off to a 1-1 start, but went 15-1 last year, and have one of the most dynamic offenses in football led by reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers.
“They allow their quarterback to run the football game, and that’s not a good thing for us, because Aaron is fantastic at it,” Carroll said. “He moves extremely well. He’s exceedingly good at finding guys down field when he’s on the move. And he’ll run and beat you with his legs. So it’s a very difficult opponent and challenge.”
Another big topic of conversation this week was the fine received by Golden Tate for his big block on Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.
Tate said he didn’t think he should have been fined, but he was diplomatic about the decision.
” I’ve just got to deal with it, fix the problem and make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said. “It’s unfortunate that I got fined, but rules are rules.”
Tate plans on appealing, and will ask what he should have done differently.
“When I do my appeal, I’m going to ask them that: ‘What would you suggest I do to make sure this doesn’t happen again?’ Because I never have intentions on injuring a player and I always want to play within the rules, so that’s a question that will come up when I have my appeal.”
