50 years ago (1962)
Stanley Lee was to join First Federal in November as accountant and controller. He graduated from Everett High School in 1937 and had worked at Sevenich Chevrolet and Allen Buick. He and his wife, the former Betty Hatlen, and their three children lived at 906 Colby Ave.
The Everett Armory, undergoing a major remodel, recently opened a deposit box in the corner stone dating to Feb. 22, 1921. Everett attorney Joe Smith enjoyed seeing a picture of himself as he looked in 1919 as a member of Everett’ National Guard Company.
25 years ago (1987)
Rogers Carpets at 5815 Evergreen Way offered mill-direct savings and a selection of grades, styles and colors of carpet, along with professional consultation and installation. Brands carried included Cabin Crafts and California Look.
A Census Bureau report indicated that America’s median age had climbed from 30.0 to 31.7 years between 1980 and 1986. Washington’s median age was 31.9. Florida had the highest at 36.0 and Utah the lowest at 25.5. Females outnumbered males in 43 states including Washington, while men led in five and were even in two states.
