Boeing names 777, 747 managers

Boeing has named new managers in charge of the 747 and 777 production programs.

Elizabeth Lund takes over as general manager of the 777 program while Eric Lindblad has been assigned as general manager of the 747 program.

Pat Shanahan, senior vice president of airplane programs, announced the changes Thursday. The move comes less than a week after Boeing named leaders to new development programs like the 777X.

Here’s the message describing the changes that Shanahan sent to employees:

Hello team –

I am pleased to announce two leadership changes that strengthen our team.

Effective immediately, Elizabeth Lund is named vice president and general manager of the 777 Program, and she also will retain her role as Everett site leader.

Elizabeth’s experience leading large, complex programs makes her an excellent choice to lead the 777 team. In her 21 years with Boeing, Elizabeth has worked on nearly every commercial airplane program including roles as the vice president and general manager of both the 767 and the 747. In addition, she previously led the transformation of the 777 production system to a moving assembly line. It’s exciting to see her return to the 777, and I have every confidence she will take this program to the next level.

Eric Lindblad takes over where Elizabeth left off as vice president and general manager of the 747 Program. Eric’s been with Boeing for 27 years, all spent in engineering and manufacturing positions. Many of you know Eric from his previous experiences as director of 747 Wing Engineering and later, of 747 Manufacturing. Eric comes to us from his role as vice president of 737 Manufacturing Operations, where he’s used his talent and passion for Lean to further improve efficiencies and seamlessly increase production rates to historic levels. At the same time, he’s led a team that has reached best-ever performance on the program in productivity, safety and quality. He’ll put that wealth of knowledge to use to further improve the 747 Program.

Please congratulate Elizabeth and Eric on their new roles and give them your full support.

Pat Shanahan
