Gardens, gold, dinosaurs and more weekend fun

24-carat fun: Check out Gold Dust Days, Friday to Sunday in Gold Bar. There’s panning for gold, free hay rides, a car show, a classic ’50s pinup contest, live music, tons of kids’ activities and lots more. Get details in our story here.

Nubian Jam: The annual celebration of African-American culture is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Forest Park in Everett. There will be speakers, live performances and vendors.

Dinosaur groove: There are two free concerts on Saturday at the Everett Public Library. Seattle songwriter and musician Nancy Stewart entertains with her quirky children’s songs: “Dinosaurs in Cars” or “Continental Drift,” and gets the audience, young and old, digging and dancing to the dino tunes. Theater in the park: Taproot Theater will perform improv comedy and a monologue called “Remember Being Born” at 6 p.m. on Saturday in Arlington. The event if family friendly and is free. The show is at Terrace Park, 809 E. Fifth Street. Get more info here.

Party by the lake: Aquafest runs through Sunday in Lake Stevens. You’ll find plenty of fun, including horse and carriage rides, wakeboard events, fireworks, a boat parade, all sorts of contests such as pizza eating, a diaper dash and various tournaments such as disc golf and softball. Irish stars: Check out the rapidly rising stars The Voodoos on Saturday as part of Aquafest. The Irish band has a fascinating back story. You can read all about it here.

Smell the roses: A Rose Garden Open House is 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 2909 280th Street NW, Stanwood. The private garden is filled with an extensive collection of roses. There will be experts on hand to answer questions about growing roses.

Outback afternoon: The Reptile Zoo, 22715 U.S. 2, Monroe, will put the focus on Australia from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. There will be face painting, balloon animals, animal handling (Australian species) and 2 scavenger hunts. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for kids.

Festival fun: The Tour de Terrace is Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Evergreen Playfield in Mountlake Terrace. There will be live entertainment, a beer garden, arts, crafts and food booths. Get details here.

Fair fun: The Silvana Community Fair is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Viking Hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway. There will be music, food, farm animals and games for kids. More details here.
