First the obligatory injury stuff…
G James Carpenter, who left practice early yesterday with what is believed to be a foot injury, was not present Tuesday. RB Christine Michael left practice early, and since we didn’t talk to Pete Carroll today the update will have to come tomorrow. C Max Unger and newly acquired WR Early Doucet were both out for a second straight day. Unger did, however, look pretty active while helping coach up linemen during practice, so it’s entirely possible this is something minor. Lemuel Jeanpierre has been getting most of the first-team reps with Unger out.
WR Stephen Williams (neck) was back in action, though in a red jersey. DE Michael Bennett was also back today.
On the field, Walter Thurmond continued to stand out, and got some first-team reps both in the nickel corner spot and in Brandon Browner’s spot on the outside. One way or another, Thurmond is going to force his way onto the field this year if he’s healthy. He’s just been too good in camp not to see him earning significant playing time.
CB Byron Maxwell, who Carroll praised the other day, had an interception in the red zone off a deflected pass and returned it for a touchdown (sort of, at least. The offense only gives chase for so long on a play like that in practice).
The odd play of the day came when Russell Wilson completed a pass to himself, catching a ball batted down at the line of scrimmage before picking up some positive yardage.
