These are not smashing pumpkins.
These gourds are hand blown from glass.
About 2,000 glass pumpkins will be on the 2013 Northwest Glass Pumpkin Patch tour by the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio. The pumpkin patch will make the rounds to sites near the Puget Sound.
Very few break during the annual roadshow, glassblowing studio owner Jeannine Sigafoos said.
“Lots of lots of bubble wrap,” Sigafoos said.
Most pumpkins range from 1 to 8 inches in size. Prices start at $35.
Pumpkin patch hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Ave. N, Edmonds, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at Molbak’s, 13625 NE 175th St., Woodinville. Admission is free.
A portion of the proceeds from sales of the pumpkins will be donated to children’s charities.

Schack-toberfest, the annual event that includes a pumpkin patch with hundreds of hand-blown glass pumpkins at the Schack, 941 Hoyt St., Everett, will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 (plus Beer and Brat Night for those over age 21, from 5 to 9 p.m.), 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 29.
