A call was made to police around 8 p.m. in the 8500 block of 60th Drive NE.
Officers learned that a Marysville man, 42, had been despondent over the recent breakup of his marriage.
The man reportedly had threatened suicide earlier in the day, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
At one point, the suspect waved a gun while in the back yard with a roommate, Lamoureux said. He also reportedly texted his wife threats that he would harm himself.
The roommate left the home and contacted the suspect's wife. During that time, neighbors reported that the man shot off a round.
The man's wife went to the home and tried to talk the man into giving his guns to her.
"It was then that he pointed a shotgun at her," Lamoureux said.
She heard a second gunshot after she left the back yard and was a safe distance away. That's when she called police.
Marysville SWAT officers went to the home shortly after 8 p.m.
Police were able to make contact with the man who came out of the home and was taken into custody more than three hours later.
He was arrested for investigation of attempted second-degree assault.
The incident took place about a half mile north of where a Marysville man, 60, was arrested Oct. 8 for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault. In that case, the man allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend and she feared for her life, court papers said. Bail for that man was set at $200,000.
