Notes: I keep thinking I should put Skyline No. 1 just as a reflex but Herald Prep Editor Aaron Swaney assures me Camas is the top team in 4A this year. It’s possible I ranked Edmonds-Woodway too high, but the Warriors are undefeated and have to be ahead of something called “Chiawana.” Which sounds like the Pacific Northwest version of Tijuana.

Notes: I really wanted to put Marysville Pilchuck No. 1 in this poll, but this is just my second week voting and I didn’t want to be That Guy. I don’t want angry e-mails from sports writers all over the state. They’ll hurt my feelings. I do think the Tomahawks are close to O’Dea, and that would be a pretty exciting game. If it happens, it could be both team’s personal 3A State Championship, because Bellevue appears to be everything it usually is (a powerhouse) and more again this season. … Glacier Peak is a solid No. 6. The Grizzlies squeaked out a win against Meadowdale but remain 7-1 this season with their only loss coming to Bothell. I had Oak Harbor at No. 10 last week, but after a tough loss to Marysville Pilchuck I gave Kamiakin the edge. The Wildcats are my unofficial No. 11 team and could easily make it back into my poll with a couple of big wins.

Notes: Tumwater and Lynden are GOOD! I really want to rank Lakewood higher, but I think the Cougars fit right in at No. 4. Lakewood has a tough battle against 1A King’s (more on the Knights later in the poll) in what will be the Cascade Conference championship this Friday. A big win over the Knights might boost Lakewood into the top three, although Ellensburg (8-0) has been blowing opponents out.

Despite a lot of new, young faces, King’s has managed to have a very impressive season. The Knights are 7-1, with their lone loss coming against 2A No. 2 Lynden, so you can’t really fault them a whole lot for that. If King’s takes down Lakewood, another top-5 2A team, then the Knights might leapfrog a couple teams in the poll. If not, you really can’t fault them a whole lot for that loss either.

Notes: I’m sticking with the Darrington Loggers. Despite a tough loss to Concrete (which also gets a nod here at No. 9 because the Sidewalks too have had a good season and just beat Darrington so they should be ahead of them) Darrington’s only other loss was to Neah Bay, which has been the top 1B team throughout the season. The Loggers will have a chance to redeem themselves this week when they take on No. 3 LaConner. The Braves (7-1) have had a very strong showing this season, making them very deserving of a top-three spot in 2B.
