The Historic Everett Theatre, like most old theaters in the region, had its start as a vaudeville venue.
Board members of the Historic Everett are bringing back that classic vaudeville-style variety show for one night only, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.
Curt and Laura Shriner, masters of ceremony for the event, call it “a dazzling display of heterogeneous splendor.” In other words, it’s a lot of unrelated but fun acts.
The Shriners plan to blend their hosting duties with a bit of George Burns and Gracie Allen-style skit work.
Their lineup includes restaurateur Shawn O’Donnell and his magic show, Paul Erickson playing classical guitar, dueling pianists Stephanie Bowsher and Joshua Zimmerman, Sunday Speedtrap band members Chris Eric and Dave Parks, singers Jackie Brown and Kat Miller, guitarist Randy Haines, fire twirler Austin McKenzie, clown juggler Bruce Johnson and young Meriel English doing her ventriloquist act.
“Meriel sure is a cutie,” Curt Shriner said. “And she is a very good ventriloquist.”
It promises to be a good show, he said.
“We want our audience to sit back and enjoy the music and the comedy,” Shriner said. “It’s old-style theater with a modern kick to it.”
The Historic Everett Theatre is at 2911 Colby Ave.
Tickets for the vaudeville show are $12 or four for $40. Military personnel and seniors are admitted for $10 or four for $36.
