Today we’re launching The Bar Hop, a blog exploring the nightlife scene in Snohomish County.
As the bar hop, I’ll be your escort to bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants, breweries, lounges, karaoke joints — anywhere you can get a drink and have a good time. (Note: “Bar” will often be used as a blanket term for nightlife spots in general.)
For some of you, bars are where you go with friends to drink a lot of alcohol. For others — the “regulars” — a specific bar is where you met your friends and where you go to see them several nights a week, if not every night. And for others still, bars might seem like sordid places frequented only by loners and losers. With The Bar Hop, I want to share the stories of the first two groups and dispel the mistaken beliefs of the third group.
No doubt bad things can happen in bars. Alcohol is overconsumed, people pick fights, men make unwanted advances. But where mistakes are made so too are lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. Bars are places where a lot of people spend a lot of time, and that makes them important.
These aren’t reviews. Rather, they’re stories about why people bought bars, why people come to bars and why going out on the town has significance in our lives.
