Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1964)

Graduates of the General Hospital School of Nursing were Sharlene Wolfe, Beth Weidkamp, Darlene Wolfe, Karen Coey, Marilyn Browning, Elizabeth Panter, Susan Genung, Margaret Brice, Sharon Iverson, Carolyn Coles, Mary Ann Brandt, Ruth Taylor, Donna Porter, Marilyn Brune, Kathleen McDougall, Hallie Stegelvik, Wanda Wilson, Kay Bundschuh and Iren Eldridge.

When Monroe Swiss Colony presented its annual dinner in its hall, on hand to greet the diners would be three hostesses in their native costumes, Jeannie Marty, Judy Steffen and Mary Steffen. Marie Marty would be in charge of the kitchen.

25 years ago (1989)

Lee Salk, a nationally known child psychologist, was the keynote speaker for a Providence Children Center fundraiser. Prominent local panelists were Dr. Harold Reasby, Kathleen Field, Dr. William Welch, Jeanne Bourget, Mary King and Dr. Steven Taylor.

Elizabeth Fowler of Everett was named to the dean’s list for fall semester at the King’s College of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. Also, Barbara Lowe of Edmonds was named a co-salutatorian of the 1989 graduating class at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, Minn.
