Letter writers run the spectrum

Tuesday’s Opinion page and reader letters offered a great example of the diverse beliefs among the Herald audience, as is proper.
At first exposure, a new reader might well feel the “Letters to the Editor” columns provide a constant political gridiron, affording the biased a big chunk of white space to fill with silly vitriol. But Wait! Closer examination reveals there are some frequent contributors whose opinions are (dare I say it?) objective and well-reasoned.
Congratulations to the Herald for tossing all comers into the ring; so that the majority of subscribers can see what rings right. Oops… correctly.
By the way, to enlighten the lady who wrote that she thinks she … “just read something about President Obama feeling good because we are going to take two other countries’ nuclear waste so that we can garner better relations”: Well, I think I read somewhere that we are going to dig a big pit at Area 51 in Nevada, and throw all the spent-yet-radioactive material down on top of the flying saucers and alien corpses. After all, a nation than can fake a lunar landing can take out the trash, right?
