EDMONDS — Police are investigating an attack on an Edmonds Community College exchange student as she was walking home from a bus stop on Thursday.
The attack was reported as an attempted robbery and sexual assault about 6:20 p.m. at 75th Avenue W. and 230th Street SW, Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said.
Two passersby heard the woman crying for help and saw a man running away, Marsh said.
The man ran westbound on 230th Street SW and then northbound along 76th Avenue W. The man then got into a van and drove north on Highway 99.
The suspect is described as white, in his late 30s and about 6-foot and 180 pounds. He was clean shaven and wore an orange jacket or sweatshirt and dark pants with a blue baseball cap.
The van is believed to be a white Chevrolet model with a ladder rack on top and windows on the sides.
