GRAND FORKS, B.C. — The Everett Merchants defeated the Trail (B.C.) Orioles 10-2 Saturday at the Grand Forks International Baseball Tournament and advanced to today’s money round.
Merchants starting pitcher Jason Lotzer threw 72/3 strong innings, allowing just one earned run on two hits and six walks. He struck out four. Reliever Matt Richard blanked the Orioles the final 11/3 innings.
Offensively, Jake Levin went 4-for-3 and drove in three runs. Jaykob Sells (2-for-5), John Naff (2-for-3) and Ryan Malone (1-for-3) each had two RBI.
The victory improved Everett’s overall record to 13-4. The Merchants remained 10-2 in Pacific International League play.
