Two people were hospitalized Monday after a two-car accident in the 11500 block of Highway 99, near Everett city limits.
An SUV and a car collided just after 3:45 p.m., according to police. Two people suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Altair Walker, 74, was swimming in the pool at his apartment complex at the time. He heard the noise and rushed to dress and get over there to help, he said.
“I heard this screech and then a crash, and I thought ‘Oh jeez,’” he said.
He sent along these pictures from the scene.
Walker also is a ham radio operator who once made radio contact with the Space Shuttle Discovery, he said.
Aid crews from Everett and Snohomish County Fire District 1 both responded to the collision scene. Everett police are investigating.
