Highway 9 paving project interrupted

SNOHOMISH — The project to repave the Highway 9 ramp to westbound U.S. 2 near Snohomish hit a snag this weekend.

The asphalt plant the Washington State Department of Transportation was counting on canceled its opening. Grinding work was already under way. Crews worked to get the ramp as smooth as possible but the pavement is still grooved. People riding motorcycles should be cautious.

WSDOT plans to finish the paving job from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday. During the closure, a detour is planned for northbound traffic to Highway 204. Southbound traffic is set to detour to Bickford Avenue.
