The Seahawks returned to practice Monday following a day off, a that included a couple of players suiting up for the first time in camp, most notably safety Kam Chancellor and left tackle Russell Okung. Both were limited, mostly taking part in early individual drills, but it’s still an encouraging first step for two important players recovering from offseason surgeries.

Also back from minor injuries were rookies Justin Britt, who left Saturday’s practice with a sore shoulder, and Cassius Marsh, who missed two days with a groin injury.

Still out is rookie receiver Kevin Norwood, who has a sore foot that sounds more and more like it could be long-term issue.

“We’re waiting for some more information, we’re going to take our time with him,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “He’s not going to come back right way. It’s going to be a bit.”

The Seahawks won’t rush to make a decision on Norwood for a couple of reasons. The fourth-round pick can’t go on the PUP list since he started camp healthy and practicing, and the Seahawks almost certainly won’t waive/injure him for fear of another team claiming him, so even if he might be out long enough to end up on injured reserve, the Seahawks wouldn’t be able to do that until Aug. 26 at the earliest.

Receiver Phil Bates, who has been one of the bright spots in camp, left early after chatting with trainers, but it turns out he wasn’t injured, but rather sick.

“He just wasn’t feeling well today,” Carroll said. “Under the weather.”

G James Carpenter, who has been sidelined with calf injury since last week, has a chance to get back “Tomorrow or the next couple of day,” Carroll said. LB Bobby Wagner, who has a hamstring injury, will “take a little bit longer.”

Rookie safety Dion Bailey watched practice on crutches and in a walking boot after hurting himself Saturday, and has what Carroll called a “pretty good ankle sprain.”
