Mill Creek: Senior Center sets vendor fair
The Mill Creek Senior Center has scheduled a vendor fair and social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. The free event is set to take place at the Washington State University Extension’s auditorium at McCollum Park.

Mill Creek: Parks &Recreation Registration Begins Monday
Mill Creek Parks &Recreation will start registration for fall and winter classes, programs and youth basketball on Monday. People can sign up in person, by mail or online at cityofmillcreek.com.
Monroe: School board sets special meeting
The Monroe School District Board of Directors has scheduled a special meeting for 4 p.m. on Monday. The meeting is expected to include discussion and review of the board’s annual work plan. It is set to take place at the Lake Tye building in room 302, located at 4090 Fryelands Boulevard SE in Monroe.

Stanwood: Interim fire chief named
The North County Regional Fire Authority has named battalion chief Scott Johnston to serve as interim fire chief.
Johnston signed an agreement with the fire authority to serve as chief for up to six months.
The previous fire chief, Dale Fulfs, retired earlier this year.
The fire authority started advertising the job last month. Officials are accepting applications until Friday.
Johnston, 42, became a Stanwood firefighter in 1995. He joined the fire authority when it absorbed the Stanwood city fire department in 2012.
The fire authority serves more than 100 square miles around Warm Beach and Stanwood, and north of Arlington. Headquarters recently were moved to Stanwood.
Sultan: Sets celebration of street construction
The city of Sultan has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for the High Avenue and Fourth Street construction projects at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Sultan in 2012 received more than $882,000 in state grants to overlay Fourth Street and reconstruct High Avenue. The city is contributing more than $998,000 to the repairs, which include repaving, and sewer, water and storm drainage improvements.
