EdCC trustee elected to national board

Edmonds Community College Board of Trustees chair Emily Yim was elected to the Association of Community Colleges Trustees Executive Committee in October. Yim will serve in the secretary-treasurer position on the executive committee for a one-year term. Her duties will include chairing the audit, budget and finance committees. Yim is also the executive director of the Washington Alliance for Better Schools.

Everett mayor, economic development director honored

The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties recognized leadership in commercial real estate development at its November Night of the Stars event in Bellevue. Among the night’s winners were Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson and Lanie McMullin, Everett’s economic development director, who were jointly honored as NAIOP’s Public Officials of the Year for Washington state.

Self-defense class planned for real estate agents

Esther Spence-Crabb, a mortgage consultant with Cornerstone Home Lending in Anacortes is sponsoring a free self-defense class for Skagit County real estate agents. The class by Darby Darrow, a fourth-degree black belt and owner of Rockpile Fitness in Anacortes, is 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Space is limited. RSVP to Esther@houseloan.com for a reservation.

Antonio Melani Salons opens third salon

Clay Hernandez, owner of Antonio Melani Salons, opened his third salon in Lynnwood Crossroads on Dec. 1. The salon’s mission is to provide exceptional artistry to clients with the use of Aveda products. Salon hours are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 8 pm, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
