BELLEVUE — The Monroe Bearcats erased a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter and held on to beat Meadowdale 56-52 Wednesday at the Bellevue College Holiday Tournament.
The win gave the Bearcats (4-5) third place.
Monroe trailed by as many as seven points in the final period, Bearcats coach Tyson Horner said, but battled back and eventually took the lead on a jumper by senior Rhen Shore with under a minute to play.
“He was pretty clutch down the stretch,” Horner said of Shore, who also contributed four steals.
Defense keyed the Bearcats’ comeback, Horner said.
“We got quite a few turnovers,” he said. “We ended up with 13 steals in the game.”
Shore led the Bearcats with 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Alex Spahman and Isaiah Cole added 12 and 11 points, respectively, and Alex Johnson collected five steals.
Griffin Over paced Meadowdale with 14 points. Teammate Nathan Heilpap added 13, including three 3-point field goals.
