The splintered guitar sounds of Sleeping with Sirens and Pierce the Veil are heading to Seattle this weekend.

The two esteemed groups, both which traffic in hard-edged and melodic emo, will play a double bill at the Showbox SoDo at 7 p.m. Jan. 28, as both acts gear up to release new albums in the coming year.

Sleeping with Sirens arguably has earned the bigger following during its short run — the band formed in 2009 in Orlando, Florida. Since then, the group has released three albums, and saw its most recent record, “Feel,” hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The group left its old label in 2014 and is now on famed punk label Epitaph Records. A new album is expected later this year, so fans can expect to hear fresh songs during the Seattle date, such as the recently released single “Kick Me.”

Pierce the Veil also plans to release its fourth album later this year. The San Diego group is trying to build on the success of its most recent album, “Collide with the Sky,” which found the group drawing on experimental rock as an influence on its own emo-flecked sound.

Tickets are $29.50 at showboxonline.com or 888-929-7849.

Wale, meanwhile, can claim a No. 1 record on the Billboard 200 — the rapper saw his last album, 2013’s “The Gifted,” top the charts.

Known for hits like “Bad” and “Bag of Money,” the critically acclaimed rapper is gearing up to release a new album in March, and likely will be road-testing some of his new tracks during his stop at the Showbox in Seattle at 9 p.m. Jan. 23.

Based out of Washington, D.C., Wale was first signed to a major label deal in 2008 after producer Mark Ronson helped bring him to attention. Since then, he’s seen each subsequent album he has released chart higher. He’s also working with bigger names — Rihanna was featured on one recent remix.

Tickets are $30 at ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

The Wood Brothers will kick off a busy week at the Neptune Theatre at 8 p.m. Jan. 24, as the Americana-influenced act continues to tour behind its 2013 album, “The Muse.”

That record, which earned warm comparisons to the work of the Band, found the trio again turning its acoustic folk into jazz-leaning compositions. The album reached No. 22 on the country charts.

The group, made up of the brothers Chris and Oliver Wood and multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, is known for its prowess in a live setting — its first album was the concert record “Live at Tonic.” Fans can expect another solid show from the act.

Tickets are $22.50 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.

The Kishi Bashi String Quartet also are headed to the Neptune Theatre for a show at 8 p.m. Jan. 27.

Led by singer and violinist K Ishibashi — the eponymous Kishi Bashi, that is — the group promises a mind-bending blend of vocals and looping strings.

The group’s frontman has earned a name for his musical ability already by playing in the background for acts including Regina Spektor, Of Montreal and Sondre Lechre.

Tickets are $25 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.

The Neptune will host one other act in the coming week — PartyNextDoor, which plays the venue at 8 p.m. Jan. 29.

The Toronto-based hip-hop producer won some headlines when he became the first act to sign to mega-star Drake’s label. Since then, he’s released two albums of his own, “PartyNextDoor” and “PartyNextDoor 2,” the latter of which topped the R&B charts.

Tickets are $26.50 to $51.50 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.

Finally, the Vaselines will play Neumos at 8 p.m. Jan. 24, as the famed elder statesman of indie rock tour behind their most recent album, “V for Vaselines.”

The Scottish duo has special ties to Seattle — a fair amount of its fame can be attributed to Nirvana, who helped bring attention to the act after covering two of its early songs, “Molly’s Lips” and “Son of a Gun.”

Tickets are $18 at www.neumos.com.
