EVERETT — A Bellevue man is facing multiple counts of burglary for his alleged role in feeding loot to a theft ring that trafficked in stolen chain saws.
Joseph Nasby, 25, was charged Thursday in Snohomish County Superior Court with two counts each of second-degree burglary and residential burglary. The break-ins occurred this winter in Marysville and Lake Stevens.
Nasby allegedly told police that he partnered with his girlfriend to commit hundreds of burglaries, often focusing on chain saws and other tools, according to court papers.
Police have connected the pair to a Marysville-area businessman who allegedly was running what detectives described as a “chop shop” for stolen chain saws and other power tools. The man’s home was raided in February.
Nasby has been jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail and that’s necessary to protect the community, deputy prosecutor Toni Montgomery said in court papers.
Nasby “appears to be in the midst of a serious drug addiction; all of the crimes were done with an eye towards purchasing narcotics,” Montgomery wrote.
