GETCHELL — Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies believe a man initially thought to be a carjacking victim made up a story after wrecking his car.
The incident was reported around 10:30 am. in the Getchell area. Deputies suspended the search for a robbery suspect Monday afternoon, officials said.
After interviewing the man, he admitted that he was a passenger in the car when it crashed, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. In addition, he admitted that he knew the driver.
“As of right now, it appears that no substantiated crime has taken place,” said Sgt. Scott Robertson, chief of the Granite Falls.
After the initial 911 call Monday, a helicopter was used to search an area near the intersection of 115th Avenue NE and 84th Street NE.
