Roundup of the mind-blowing music at this year’s Sasquatch!

The 2015 Sasquatch! Music Festival is in the books and there are plenty of great things to report.

The lineup was incredible, all the performances I saw were as good as or better than expected and of course The Gorge is one of the most beautiful places in the whole world to see music.

I kicked Friday off with Seattle rock band Thunderpussy. For a 4 p.m. show on the first day of the festival these ladies had a very impressive audience that just continued to grow as their performance went on. Festival crowds everywhere are going to love Thunderpussy. After what I saw, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on the main stage at Sasquatch! a few years from now.

Jose Gonzalez made all of us feel like we were falling in love for the very first time with a truly beautiful set he delivered as the sun set behind the crowd. I had never seen him live before and I am thrilled that my first time was in that gorgeous (you see what I did there?) setting.

Everyone knows that Father John Misty is incredible live, but some how every time I see them front man Josh Tillman still leaves me shaking my head in awe. The transition from total sarcasm to completely raw emotion in a matter of seconds looks exhausting and certainly isn’t lost on the audience.

What do I even say about Run The Jewels? When they were done I was ready to take to the streets and protest something. Anything. Killer Mike took to the stage in a sling, which didn’t stop him from throwing up his RTJ sign. He started the party by yelling into his microphone “Let’s burn this mother to the ground!” From there the crowd went bonkers and stayed that way.

Ending Sasquatch with one of the biggest rappers in the world was genius. Kendrick Lamar didn’t perform like he was closing out the festival. He took that place over like no other musicians existed. He delivered one of the best live sets I’ve ever seen at Sasquatch. He opened with his hit “Money Trees” and just kept the hits coming for the whole set. At one point he even pulled fans out of the crowd to rap with him and they certainly knew their stuff. When I’m arguing with friends about the best live performers we’ve ever seen, King Kendrick will always be in my top two or three (with Radiohead and Ghostland Observatory).

Now, let’s see how Sasquatch tops the 2015 lineup next year.
